So after a few days of tinkering around, I finally rooted my Evo and installed a custom rom. One of the best things I’ve gotten out of doing so is being able to remove the frame rate cap that has plagued our devices. This video is a comparison of using the Evo before and after the fps cap has been removed. The first half consist of me using the device as it usually functions, capped and all. When I turn the screen off and back on, the custom kernel kicks in and the frame cap is removed. You can tell that everything runs much faster this time around: transitions are instantaneous, and scrolling is butter smooth. As an added bonus, this also eliminates the touch sensor lag I demonstrated in a few previous videos entirely. My Evo feels like a brand new device now thanks to the awesome developers at XDA. Running Fresh 1.0 Beta ROM with BFS+FPS mod Kernel by Toast and Flipz.

Smart Eating

For several years, I ate a vegetarian diet; the only problem was that my definition of “vegetarian” was too limited; I had a meatless diet, but in the regimen that I kept, there were very few alternate protein sources, like soy or fish. I ate mainly low-fat complex carbohydrates ( brown rice, whole grains, pasta, vegetables and legumes),believing that as long as I avoided fat, I was on the path to nutritional salvation. Despite my running, my weight soared. I was hungry all the time. By 5 o’clock, I felt I had been run over by a truck and more often than not, steered straight to my favorite Tim Horton’s for my almost daily fix—coffee and bagel. Those were the days I felt sanctified for not succumbing to a donut; but little did I realize then that my whole-grain bagel fared little better than a Boston Crème in terms of body mechanics: both were filled with carbohydrates which shot up my insulin level, which in turn increased my appetite and made me feel more tired. The bagel was a temporary fix because on most days, my heaviest eating occurred from 5pm onwards.

Once I increased my consumption of protein, my body started shedding both water and fat. I was not on a high protein diet—but made sure I had 30% protein, 50 percent complex carbohydrates and 20% essential fats. I also learned how to select my protein with intelligence. Not all proteins are alike and animal proteins are laden not only with fat but chemicals and hormones. Instead of relying only on meat (with its accompanying levels of fat) for my protein source, I had soy protein as well in my daily meals.

Fruits and vegetables became mainstays for almost every meal. My standard fare consisted of a small bowl of unprocessed oatmeal and soy protein shake with a cup of blueberries or strawberries for breakfast and another soy protein shake plus a large green salad for lunch.I have been on this regimen for almost 4 years now.No longer a vegetarian,I eat some form of meat 2 or 3 times a week. My evening meal is usually composed of whole-grains, legumes, stir-fry veggies with lean chicken, turkey, salmon or chickpea falafel. My body has returned to a kind of internal balance. I am back to a size 4(my wedding dress size); I have more energy now than I ever did and I cannot even remember when I was sick (more than 5 years ago).

Why do you need protein?

1.Your lean body mass is the metabolically active part of you. It consumes energy, repairs the daily wear and tear of vital body structures and it replaces fluid and body chemicals. It is dependent on protein.

2. If you go on a low-calorie, high carbohydrate, low protein diet, you can easily lose up to 50% of your muscle tissue. Each pound of active muscle mass that you lose reduces your metabolic rate—which means that you can just have tea and toast twice a day and still gain weight. This is very similar to what is known as “sarcopenic obesity”—a condition sometimes found in women who are thin; but because their lean body mass is low and percentage body fat is high, they are still in the obese range in their BMI index.

3. Your body has its own intelligence system as well. If you go on a low calorie, low protein diet, your body will think it is in starvation mode and it will respond by lowering your metabolic thermostat.

4. What you need to do is consume enough protein to keep your metabolism high. Protein is known to be fat-burning. Your body uses very few calories to burn carbohydrates, especially those that are high in glycemic index. These foods dissolve easily in your stomach, release insulin into your bloodstream which increases the body’s tendency to store fat. Protein, on the other hand, is tougher to metabolize. Your body actually uses more calories to digest a hard boiled egg than a piece of toast. In the process of digestion, your body also burns fat, converts fat to lean muscle tissue. And the more body mass you have, the faster your metabolism will become and the more calories it will burn for day to day activities.

5. If you eat an adequate amount of protein, your body will not crave carbs or sugar. Why? Because it is well fed. Most cravings are the result of a body that is hungry for nutrients.

The upshot of all this is that we need all the macronutrients—protein, carbohydrates and fats. But we also need to eat with intelligence. Not all proteins are alike and we must be savvy enough to choose vegetable protein more often than animal protein, good low-glycemic carbs more often than high-glycemic carbs, and we must eat enough omega fatty 3 fats to balance out the omega 6. If we carry out all the above suggestions, as well as keep a good exercise regimen and maintain viable ways of stress management, we are well on our way to beat both weight and aging issues.

Article Submissions: 4 Reasons to Use Html When Submitting your Article

Writing articles is an excellent way to promote your website. Links from your articles drive traffic to your site; they aid in your search engine optimization efforts. These two facts lead to the simple conclusion that the more an article is redistributed and republished, the more traffic a site will acquire.

A few well known methods for ensuring that your article is republished are:

Writing unique and useful contentWriting articles between 600 and 1000 wordsOptimizing your articles for high traffic search engine keywords

These are all excellent methods, but much like a glass of orange juice, scrambled egg and slice of toast aren’t “complete” without a bowl of Cheerios, neither is your article submission without HTML.

Below are 4 reasons why you should be using HTML every time you submit.

1.) More Traffic:

Internet readers are lazy. According to renowned web usability expert, Jakob Nielsen of Useit.com, readers are much more likely to read web copy if it is “scannable.”

Scannable web copy: Bolds important points in paragraphs Breaks long paragraphs down into shorter onesMakes use of bulleted listsClearly marks off new thoughts with section headers.

Text that is scannable will yield readers that get to the end of that text, which in turn will yield more clicks on your links i.e. more traffic! The scannability of your text is severely limited without the use of HTML.

2.) Formatted Text is More “Publisher Friendly”:

Publishers are looking for scannable web copy in the articles they publish. Take for example this excerpt regarding preferred formatting techniques from one of the Internet’s most trusted domains, About.com.

“Avoid lengthy paragraphs and provide the [article] in Web reading format where people tend to scan and read less. Include bullet points and sub headings to make reading easy and enjoyable. Please provide additional links to web sites that a reader may explore the topic in greater depth.”

This particular About.com subdomain boasts a Google Page Rank of 7 as well as thousands of visitors every day. Along with other standard submission techniques, HTML in your submission will give you the best chance of getting featured on this site.

3.) Control of Anchor Text:

Anchor text is one the most influential factors when it comes to search engine rankings. By using HTML in your article submissions, every link that you acquire will be fully optimized for the search engines.

Without HTML, your links can not be optimized to the same degree. While it is true that the text surrounding an active link is taken into consideration by search engine algorithms, it is not weighted nearly as heavily as the actual anchor text of that link.

Anchor text can only be manipulated using HTML.

4.) Speed of Submissions:

Most article submission software or automated submission services will speak to the contrary of this point. They do not allow HTML formatting in their mass submissions and they generally cite two reasons why not: Most article directories don’t accept HTMLWith all the variances in article submission sites, it’s too slow to submit HTML

Both of these statements are false; submission software and services haven’t taken the time to compile the proper resources that make these statements true. Fortunately, I have.

I have compiled a list of 80 HTML-friendly article submission sites, complete with statistics detailing Page Rank, domain backlinks and more. Using that list and a plug-in for the Firefox Web Brower called “Fireform,” I am able to submit to all 80 of these sites in about an hour.

Both of the resources I use to submit to all of these sites are free.

A Few Notes on HTML Submissions:

When submitting, make sure you use only simple HTML. I stick to a, br, b, u, i, ul (not ol), li, and blockquote. Nobody likes p tags. Don’t use them. Make sure you close all of your tags. Test your HTML in a simple text editor before you submit it. Put the entirety of your HTML on one single line for faster submissions.

HTML-formatting is to article submissions what Lucky Charms is to “this complete breakfast.” While a tall glass of orange juice, slice of toast, and ruby red grapefruit half are pretty good, it just isn’t right without those purple horseshoes, yellow stars and red balloons.

Likewise, make sure you are writing fresh content, using keywords, connecting with your audience, writing articles between 600 and 1000 words, AND formatting using HTML to make the most out of your article submissions.

Major Change and the Law of Attraction

You’re visualizing that perfect job every night and just know that the Universe is bringing you exactly what you desire. You also know that the job you are currently working at right now is not what you want. But you have to work there until the Universe brings you the job you dream of, right? Then, when you go into work the next day you learn you’ve been laid off. Most people would be upset over losing a job, but when you’re a Law of Attraction practitioner you know what this means. The Universe has something better for you coming around the corner.

It can sometimes be hard to be joyous when a major change that seems so difficult happens out of the blue. Not everyone is comfortable with change, but in order for you to obtain what you desire, change is necessary, and major change is something to celebrate.

When major change arrives it means the Universe is aligning you with your desire. You have to break a few eggs in order to make an omelet, and the same goes for a major life-changing desire. If you want your visualization to come into physical being, be prepared for major change, and once you have figured out how to practice the Law of Attraction intentionally, things will attract faster to you.

Sometimes the Universe has to align many different components in order for your desire to come into being, and aligning at that magnitude requires change on your part.

Welcome any kind of change because it means there is a shift and when the shift comes, just accept that your desire is right around the corner. The Universe is lining up the planets for you so you can have what you want out of life. Welcome the change. Rejoice in it. In fact, whenever you have a day of any kind of change, toast the day because you are on the right path to the new life you have been envisioning.

Can your desire come to you without a massive shift in your life? Of course it can, and this happens time and time again. But sometimes it takes movement to obtain your desires. It can happen both ways but just remember that when you have major change and you have been faithful in giving the Universe an exact image of what you want, celebrate that seemingly difficult change. Such change is a product of what you have been thinking, feeling, and focusing on, and the Universe is doing its job just for you. So here’s a toast to major change and the Law of Attraction.
